THE LAST HORROR PICTURE SHOW can best be described as a "rural version of SCREAM" or "THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT meets THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE." The film tells the tale of a group of college students who take the "ultimate" road trip from hell. This is very scary, yet witty, film that will keep you on the edge of your seat!
Our story begins as 20-year-old BECKY, her boyfriend JETT, and friends LEANN and BOYETTE set out to shoot a documentary about their favorite horror film, "THE BARBECUE MASSACRE." Based on a series of grisly murders that swept across the southern states in the 1970s, the film, produced by Hollywood in the 1990s, quickly became a cult classic and spawned many sequels.
The original "Barbecue" killers were never found, only the innocent victims they left in their wake. Now Becky and her friends follow the trail of the killers and the Hollywood version of their exploits to uncover clues that may help identify the killers, and to find their "fifteen minuets of fame" by making their own film. Becky and her friends believe that the movies were filmed on the locations where the actual murders had taken place and plan their route accordingly. Along the way there, Jett’s four-wheel-drive truck gets stuck and our heroes are forced to make their way by flashlight to an old plantation.
Once inside the plantation house, our heroes are met by an old man in a wheelchair, "THE JANITOR"; a stocky truck driver, "REDD"; and a quiet giant of a man, "BABE." These three strange occupants turn out to be not kindly, eccentric middle-aged men, but instead the real killers behind the 20-year-old "Barbecue Massacre."
As the demented killers get rid of the kids one by one in grisly horror film fashion, Becky must use her wits to survive before she becomes the next victim of… THE LAST HORROR PICTURE SHOW.
