CARLITO'S ANGELS (2003)
If you ever felt that the girls in 'Carlies Angels' were just a little too perfect then this film might just be up your street. Tina, Marisol and Roxy come from the street and spend most of their time smoking pot, talking trash and pretending to fight crime for their hood. When their mysterious boss, Carlito, gives the girls a case that turns out to be a real crime, the girls stumble into action as only these angels know how. These full figured black/latino ladies are just about the furthest away from lethal undercover agents as they could be. No jobs, no car and no money, they manage get by on their raw and sassy attitudes and a little female charm.

This cheeky action comedy is a fun little number that mixes in several different styles to make up it's whole. Any one who can appreciate silly adult humour in a kind of Benny Hill meets 'I'm gona get you Sucka' way will really enjoy this movie as well as it having a slightly cheesy exploitation feeling to it.

It does feature some strange moments that you have to try not to over analyse and just except them as part of a silly yet charming movie. As an example, a guy dressed as Robin from 'Batman' shows up for no obvious reason and the films finale ends up featuring a free-for-all mud wrestling match. This is all part of the movies crazy appeal and instead of going for the more obvious route of including a gaggle of topless ladies to draw in the onlookers, it instead goes for off the wall comedy and manages to pull it off pretty well.

Highs
The sexy comic book style opening credits were a complete joy to watch and, although seemingly a little out of place, I would have loved to have seen more of this through out the feature.

Lows
For a low budget affair this has surprisingly little wrong with it.
