CATWOMAN (2004)
Every so often, a movie comes along that is so horrendous, it sets a new standard in how awful a film can actually be. Enter the atrocity that is Catwoman. Usually with all movies, even the worst ones, the viewer can watch and find some positive aspects. Maybe there was a certain scene that hit the mark, or perhaps there was a clever line of dialogue that was memorable. Usually there is always something to be enjoyed in a movie, no matter how bad it is. This is not true with Catwoman.
I really can't find anything positive to say about this movie whatsoever. It was extremely hard to sit through the whole thing. Some scenes were so wretched my eyes actually burned. The movie seemed like it was trying to top itself with one horrible scene after another. The computer effects were horrible. Was it really necessary to create a regular cat out of computer effects that looks completely fake, when you could have just got a real live cat to do the scene? The cat wasn't doing anything special either. It was just padding around. Most of the special effects in this film are just completely unnecessary.

Who or what is Pitof anyway? And why was he allowed to direct this movie? His main credits over the years are as a visual effects director, and he has done some decent enough work with effects on movies like Alien Resurrection and The Messenger: The Story Of Joan Of Arc. I'd say Pitof should just stick to what he knows best and after squandering such a great opportunity as this, should stay away from Hollywood for a while.

Halle Berry is beyond awful as the films title character. For some reason she is trying to play a cat in scenes, rather than playing Catwoman the comic book character. If she had seen Batman Returns she would have known that she was going about her role all wrong. Her performance in Monster's Ball was spectacular. If you didn't know any better, and you watched Monster's Ball and then Catwoman right afterwards, you'd swear that Halle Berry had a retarded twin sister. As for the other female leading lady namely Sharon Stone, her performance is so bad I don't even want to talk about it.

The bottom line is that this is a movie that should have never been made. Didn't anyone try to stop this? Didn't anyone realize during shooting what a pure piece of garbage was being made? It should have been obvious that Catwoman was a bomb just by reading the script. I've seen thousands of movies in my lifetime, and there have been lots of bad ones that I despise, but I can't think of any that were worse than Catwoman.
