CITY HUNTER (1992)
And you thought "The Protector" (Jackie's first foray into U.S. filmmaking) was bad. I guess you get what you deserve when you sit down to watch a Jackie Chan movie based on a Manga comic and directed by Wong Jing, producer of two of the "Sex and Zen" films...except this film has practically no offensive material at all.

Chan, seemingly a really nice guy, who really can't act, mugs mercilessly for the camera as the title not-so-cool super-spy. He accidentally stows away on a cruise ship in pursuit of his girlfriend. He ends up thwarting the plans of evil terrorists on board, led by talented martial artist (and talentless Australian-born actor) Richard Norton and C-grade American action star Gary Daniels. Andy Lau is poorly used as a card-throwing super-spy who pops up from time to time (but not often enough). One might also want to look for Chingmy Yau, sexy star of the brilliant Catergory III film "Naked Killer".

Full of jokes that land with huge thuds to the floor, overripe performances
and some of the weirdest damn things ever commited to film. Unlike "The Protector", this film can occasionally be an unintentional riot, though often it appears to try for (and fails) laughs. Bad comedies are the worst kind of bad movie, and bad action-comedies like this aren't far behind. Even Chan hates this one, apparently.
Highs
A cute fight scene where Chan seems to literally take advice from Bruce Lee. The lively and entertaining Andy Lau is fun to have around as well.
Lows
The inexplicable musical stylings of DJ Hard and Soft are bizarre and intrusive. The humour is occasionally misogynistic and homophobic. One of the dumbest fight scenes ever recorded has Chan and Daniels literally turning into live-action versions of characters from Street Fighter II. Whoever thought that one up was clearly on crack at the time.
