CROCODILE (2000)
|
When spring beak comes around and it's time to let loose, eight teenagers decide to take their vacation on a house boat and enjoy the sights of the beautifull lake and it's surroundings. As high spirits get the better of them they suddenly discover that the lake hides a giant hormonal crocodile that will happily chew on anyone that comes near it's precious eggs.
A moderately entertaining creature feature that pits the dim wits of standard teenage fodder, against the brute strength and apparent teleportation skills of a giant crocodile. Some genuinely gripping moments along with a bucket of blood or two help raise this from the usual straight to DVD sewage that litter the rental store shelves.
Ultimately, there is nothing either original or technically ground breaking about this film but it does offer up a few cheap thrills along with some decent enough production values. Believe it or not director Tobe Hooper was also responsible for the now infamous Texas Chainsaw Massacre film which is a far cry from the average ness of this movie.

Highs
|
The effects are pretty fine for a low budget flick like this one. Thanks in no small part to the intervention of the computer once again, we get to see our scaly bad boy undertake some pretty naughty antics.

Lows

The crocodile swallows a man whole but them vomits him back up again because he doesn't like the taste of insect repellant. What a load of old tripe.
