Plot Accused of witchcraft, a beautiful woman (Debbie D) is chased into the forest where she dies in a quicksand bog. But her spirit lives on, seeking revenge, and longing for the touch of another woman. Four people enter her woods for a photo shoot. Barbara Joyce is the makeup person and believes the witch does indeed exist. Veronika Blu and Pamela Sutch are the models and Luke Marlowe is the photographer. Each faces the witch and dies a horrible death! Pam and Barbara sink in the quicksand while Veronika Blu is attacked by living vines, stripped naked, and then raped by the witch! Will the owner of the photography studio and his assistant learn the truth of what happened to their friends and will they survive the answer?
Analysis Another of W.A.V.E's 'Dire Straits' Productions, this time presenting us with a story that is not too dissimilar to that of the Blair Witch Project. The woods are there, the ancient folklore of a murdered witch is in there, and so too are the stupid people who run around the woods getting murdered. The difference this time around is that the cast are made up of a group of models on a photo-shoot. Sound like fun.........lets play.
We start out with the said models being transported to their shooting location by car. Along the way the make-up girl tells them all about the legend of the Powell Forest Witch and how she met her grisly demise in a quicksand bog. This leads up to the climax of the scene, which sees the car predictably breaking down in the middle of the forest leaving them high and dry. The fun really starts as the photographer and make-up girl take to the road on foot to try and reach the highway to get help. The models being a little 'out of stock' in the brains department decide to go for a swim. Cue the death.
With the running time of this film standing at a diminutive 51 minutes, you tend to prejudge the plot line before even watching the film, assuming that the feature is little more than an excuse to see naked chicks dying in various ways. This, of course, is correct but full marks to W.A.V.E for never trying to deliver anything more than a strange form of titillation. The box artwork leaves you in no question that what lies inside is for adults only and keeps the story shallow to enable full maximisation of it's models.
Speaking of the models, they are suitably attractive and have creditable acting skills, but they sure ain't doing Shakespeare. What I like about these models is that they are all natural with hardly any silicone in sight. Considering the way in which they die (usually being striped by living vines and drowned in quicksand!!!), they need to be natural or they just wouldn't go under, just too buoyant you see.
The other piece of information of note about this film is the interesting feature just before the end credits, that shows the actresses having to shower down after the many 'mud bog' scenes. Very interesting what some folk will do for art.

The scenes with the living vines are interesting and reasonably well done. There are a few 'run for your life' scenes thrown in for good luck.

I can't think of any notably gripping moments.

Really only the first death scene involves any blood but it's O.K when it happens. Raspberry sauce anyone.

Just about every actress gets nude during the brief 51 minute flick.

Thin, but then again so was the Blair Witch Project. The plot is not the reason to be watching this movie after all.

Verdict Where this film differs to other W.A.V.E titles like 'Hayride Slaughter' is that it makes even less of an attempt to try and introduce a viable plot and instead relies heavily on it's nudity and death scenes. Is this a bad thing? Well only you can decide, but remember that the 'Women in Peril' theme is for selected tastes only and might be seen as a little too 'unusual' for some tastes.
